When you bring your new infant home, you probably will have the urge to keep him near you at all times, specifically when you (attempt to!) go to sleep for the night. It makes good sense to have a crib or cradle in your bed room initially, since it will decrease the range you need to stroll to deal with nighttime feedings.
You can attempt moving the infant into his nursery for naps right from the beginning, to try to reduce any injury or stress and anxiety by moving him into a strange room with brand-new smells and sights when he’s a little older. Sit with him in a rocker or glider and rock him to sleep initially, then move him into his crib.
Later, you can put him in his baby crib and if he’s picky or can’t get to sleep, attempt sitting near the crib for a couple of nights up until he falls asleep. Move the chair even more away for another week or so. Finally, place the chair near the door, so the infant gets utilized to going to sleep without being right beside you.
It will be hard in the beginning, however if you’re constant, eventually, you’ll get your infant to the point where he can fall asleep in his own room. Start to develop a nighttime regimen, so your baby knows what to expect. By starting these basic routines early, hopefully you’ll prevent difficulty later on attempting to move the baby into his nursery and getting him to sleep at a normal time.
